The Conturines grotto was discovered in 1987 by Willy Costamoling Corvara . In reality he was seeking the so-called "dolls Travenanzes" calcareous concretions looking very peculiar. In the cave instead made a remarkable and unexpected discovery: after a steep and slippery in the middle of stalactite and stalagmite concretions, reached a flat area where the ground was strewn everywhere from bones, teeth and skulls .
After the scientific controls, the bones turned out to be found the remains of cave bears (bear cave). The age of the remains of cave bear was determined to 40,000 and 115,000 years ago ! We should also mention the discovery of a jaw of a cave lion and fossil bones of marmot. The area surrounding the cave Conturines (d. 2750) is now devoid of vegetation and no longer living marmots. It is assumed therefore that the vegetation in this place was much more developed.
